( Bring light to you life)

What is Solar Power and Solar Solutions?????

There is a quote "SOLAR POWER is not about Fashion its about Survival"  and yes its all about survival in a country like Pakistan where more than 70% of the population is living without essential needs of life including uninterrupted supply of cheap and reliable electricity. If only there is some kind of infinite power source that is free to use all day is SOLAR POWER.......

Types of Solar Power Solutions

There are two major types of solar power solutions  available in our country:-

1. PV Solar Panels

2. Wind Energy Turbine

Part 1

(Deploying PV Solar Panels and why??????)

1.  Photovoltaic modules  (PVM) or Solar Panels:-

Solar Panels or photovoltaic modules (PVM) are made of Photovoltaic solar cells which generates electricity when exposed directly to the sun light these panels are very common now a days we can watch these panels mounted on the top of the roofs of many houses infact contractors are now building housing schemes with pre-installed solar panels to commercialize there schemes as load shedding free zone.....they will also save your electricity bills upto 70% as the energy generated from solar panels is free of cost.........following are some examples of photovoltaic Modules/Solar Panels with their types:-
An example of solar modules mounted on roofs

Mono Crystalline Type Solar Panels :-

Solar cells made of monocrystalline silicon (mono-Si), also called single-crystalline silicon (single-crystal-Si), are quite easily recognizable by an external even coloring and uniform look, indicating high-purity silicon, as you can see on the picture below:-

Monocrystalline solar cells are made out of silicon ingots, which are cylindrical in shape. To optimize performance and lower costs of a single monocrystalline solar cell, four sides are cut out of the cylindrical ingots to make silicon wafers, which is what gives monocrystalline solar panels their characteristic look

Poly Crystalline Type Solar Panels :-

The first solar panels based on polycrystalline silicon, which also is known as polysilicon (p-Si) and multi-crystalline silicon (mc-Si), were introduced to the market in 1981. Unlike monocrystalline-based solar panels, polycrystalline solar panels do not require the Czochralski process. Raw silicon is melted and poured into a square mold, which is cooled and cut into perfectly square wafers as you can see in below pictures:-
In below image of Poly Crystalline panels are mounted. We can see different color crystalline in solar cells specifically blue and black and a perfect square shape of cells

A simple Visual Difference:-

A good way to separate mono- and polycrystalline solar panels is that polycrystalline solar cells look perfectly rectangular with no rounded edges:-

How solar panel works???:-

As i explained above that solar panels generate electric current (DC) simply by exposing them directly to sun light so we can run our home appliances by connecting them directly or indirectly with these panels through inverters we can also charge large batteries and store current for emergency use. we can separate solar panels usage in 3 type of grids

a. Off Grid Solar System:-

Off Grid solar system is very simple as we deploy one or more solar panels with series or parallel  on the top of the roof and connect them to directly to appliance (DC Appliances) or Batteries through charge controller (A device for battery safety) to run inverters (inverters will run AC appliances rated at 220v e.g. fan, lights, tv and computer etc) some examples are mentioned below with images:-

Pedestal Fans which can run directly from solar panels
Ceiling fan to run directly from solar panel

Above in image we can watch a simple solar system solar panels in the sun charge the batteries through a charge controller which will run inverter to invert the current in 220v to run home appliances

b.  On Grid Solar System:-

Working of an on-grid solar system is conventional and different from off-grid solar system as there is a hybrid inverter deployed in the system which is based computerized and pre-programmed chip. Hybrid Inverter automatically gathers all the power available (regardless what ever the source is. it could be WAPDA, solar panel, batteries or wind turbine) and produce uninterruptedly power supply to the consumer. these inverter are good to save you upto 60% of your WAPDA bills :) few examples are mentioned below:-

In above image it is explained how the hybrid solar system is working from multiple source of energy and supply electricity.

In This our very first blog we tried our best to explain the PV solar panel and its usage as alternate green clean source of energy. As a reader if you have any question regarding solar panels on/off grid systems or you have observed any error/false information kindly comment or let us know. We will be glad to help you.
